Simhastha 2028 on the Shipra, city of Mahakal
Ujjain, the sacred city of Mahakaleshwar on the banks of the Shipra, hosts the Simhastha Kumbh when Jupiter enters Leo. The 2028 Simhastha is expected in April–May 2028; official bathing dates will be announced by the Madhya Pradesh government and the akhadas.

The guiding presence
Ujjain is one of the seven Moksha-puris and home to Mahakaleshwar, the only south-facing Jyotirlinga, famous for the pre-dawn Bhasma Aarti. The Shipra snan during Simhastha draws the akhadas' grand processions.
Official dates
Dates follow official government and akhada announcements and can change. Always reconfirm with us before travel.
Guru Maa's camp is planned within the akhada shivir area for Simhastha 2028. Location and facilities will be confirmed as official plans are announced.
Getting there
Ujjain Junction (UJN) — trains from Delhi, Mumbai, Indore and Bhopal.
Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport, Indore (IDR) — ~55 km; taxis and buses to Ujjain.
~55 km from Indore via a fast highway; well connected from Bhopal (~190 km).
Nearby
Book Bhasma Aarti entry online well in advance — it fills up months ahead.
During Simhastha, expect sector-wise traffic restrictions; keep the camp's local contact handy.
